The nights are drawing in, its a great time for planting, a great time for getting cosy, a great time for sharing comforting vegetable soup!

Location: Belle Vue Baptist Church, Belle Vue Avenue, Southend on Sea, SS1 2QA. (Off Southchurch Road.)

Date: Sunday 2 November 2014

Time: 5.30 pm – 8.30 pm

Cost: £5 per person. No cost for children if you bring them. (Although we might rope them into helping out.)

Who can come: EVERYONE! Soup is family friendly and we welcome anyone that wants to take part, or is simply curious about what we do. If you can’t afford the fee, don’t worry, please come along anyway.

What’s happening:

  • Meet and mingle with lovely people! (with ‘people’ anyway. Can’t really vouch for their loveliness…)
  • Be entertained with music, banter, colouring-in and lego and stuff!
  • Hear presentations from people wanting a small amount of money for their Good Idea, then vote for your favourite!
  • Eat soup! (Vegan, so that everyone can enjoy it.)

Ways to get involved:

1)  Submit an idea to present on the night via the form under ‘Submit a good idea’ or email direct to sherryfuller@hotmail.co.uk

2)  The church is linked to Southchurch Foodbank. Please bring any long-lived items that you would like to donate.

3)  Arrive early to help me set up (I’ll be there from 4.30)

4)  Bring vegetables and condiments and stuff with which to cook soup. (There’s a fabulous kitchen they’re letting us use. All mod cons.) Please let me know if you’re bringing stuff so I have an idea what we have and what we need. Please only bring vegan goods. If it’s vegan, everyone can eat it.

5)  Help with the cooking, roll buttering, making tea/soft drinks etc

6)  Be a Master Mingler! Move about amongst people making connections, chatting, ensuring people are enjoying themselves and no one’s left out

7)  Hang about afterwards to help me clean up!

Special notes:

As this Soup is in a Baptist Church, there is a no alcohol policy. If you bring your own refreshments (we’ll provide hot drinks and soft drinks) please stick to alcohol free.

NB: although we are grateful to have a Baptist Church host us on this occasion, Southend Soup is a non-denominational initiative. All faiths, non-faiths, humans of every ilk are very welcome to join us.
